Is this a natural reaction or am I crazy?
Today, on my way home, traffic was stopped on Highway 42. A couple minutes later, I hear sirens coming from behind me. I move my car over to the right and watch a fire truck and police cars navigate throught the traffic and pass me. Just when I think “Yay, traffic’s moving now!”, I realize that they are turning onto MY street! And the panic sets in. I start thinking, “OMG, what if they are going to my house!” and that leads to “Crap, did I leave my hair straightener on all day?…Is my house burning down right now?…My animals are going to die in the fire!….Why does this have to happen when Brett’s away on business!?” Well, sure enough, they passed up my house, it was fine. And I didn’t even see a smoke plume in the sky around the neighborhood. But now I’m wondering if everyone else always assumes it’s THEIR house that’s burning down. Am I crazy?
